PARATECH Paragliding

Most pilots dream of one day getting their tandem rating so they can take their family and friends along to share the joy of flying.

Flying a tandem paraglider requires above average ground control skills, confidence, and a very high regard for safety. You literally have someones life in your hands and this is not a responsibility to be taken lightly.

Tandem training courses are supervised personally by our Chief Flight Instructor Jason Turner who has been flying Tandem Paragliders in coastal and Inland conditions for more than 25 years.

A Sports Tandem Endorsement course involves some basic theory, an examination, several flights with the CFI as pilot and passenger and the remainder of training with a SAFA licenced passenger until the CFI is satisfied with the applicants skill and attitude.

A minimum of 30 flights are required before the Sports Tandem Endorsement can be issued and only then can you take family, friends and non commercial passengers.

Please note that training can cease at any time if the CFI believes that any applicant does not possess the skills needed to receive the Sports Tandem endorsement and they will receive a partial refund based on a day rate.

We work in an inland environment in the Canungra region so this is a very time consuming process for our Instructors and you. If you are considering weekend training then please understand that this is our busiest time as a commercial operation and with weather being weather it would be better if you could schedule training during the week to have more flying opportunities.

We do not hire tandem equipment for any training so applicants will need to provide their own airworthy equipment including a fitted tandem reserve parachute. Applicants will also need to arrange their own retrieve driver and SAFA licenced passengers.
